4. We are the Champions Animation

An FMS animation to the song 'We are the Champions'.

We as a 6 member group was tasked to create an animation with the theme centering around our school Film Sound Media (FMS) of Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I was tasked with animating to the first chorus of the song.

The main concept and idea for my part is heavily inspired and referenced from the movie Shazam. I thought of using Shazam as they portrayed teamwork in their final fight scene, which I felt is the same as being an FMS student. You need to work well with you team to produce the best product. This was also in relation to the lyrics of the chorus, "We are the champions, my friends, and we'll keep on fighting till the end".

Planning Stages

Mood Board

As the theme was centered around FMS, we looked for image references and created this moodboard.

Art Style

We decided to use a cartoon and stickman kind of style for our animations. One of the most basic style of animations was using stickman figures hence we decided to use this style.

Initial Colour Palette

The FMS logo and school compound used a lot of purple and yellow, hence we decided to use these colours but in a more pastel tone.

Character Design

We decided on this character design as we wanted to stay through to the basics of animations with stickman figures.

Created this storyboard version so that I could estimate how long each scene needs to be to match the lyrics and timing. Storyboard was based off the the initial storyboard.
